This house is designed on the precarious slopes of Mount Kenya in Karatina. The project is designed to be partially hidden as access to the site is from the top side of the slope. As you walk into the compound you notice only a small entrance building which leads to an inverted staircase as you climb down to the main level and down further to the family rooms. The house is inspired by houses designed in Cape Town on the WaterKloof hills and aims to offer a journey in discovery to those who enter, as they constantly will find the inverted staircase design distorting their sense of how space is normally arranged. Project is currently under construction.
